The Myth about Cell Phone Addiction

A really strange thing is going on in the modern society. On the one hand, there is a continuous race for new cell phone technologies (among companies and among people); on the other hand there are those who fight against cell phone addiction.

Most of us are still unsure about the role of this portable toys in our lives. Many claim to quit using cell phones as they cause tumors, affect memory, or jackhammer the brain. Others opt for green cell phones and an accurate recycling policy. Some are even involving the argument that people survived for thousand of years without these devices.

Still these are not enough reasons to tear cell phones out of entire world's life. People continue to use them as they became a second breath.

So can we talk here about some kind of addiction? Is a cell phone addiction a myth?

This so called 'addiction' is meant to express the habitual behavior of those who don't meet certain requirements of society.

Actually, it is believed that the need to use a cell phone comes from excessive loneliness and sick tendency to communicate. So, we are in search for solidarity and community!

Let's consider another option! What if we - those who are in love with cell phones - are starving for technology? We grow dependent because we are empowered by giving and receiving calls. And we are smart enough to handle such a difficult and unbelievable technology. It is all about feeling of self-importance!

We have already reached the point when we can't stop using our cell phones. They involve us into the world of machinery tempting us with wide possibilities, so at the moment it is not quite clear who is managing the situation.

What drives cell phone critics nuts is casual use and the whole casual culture of the cell phone, which seems to them wholly disgusting.

Two decades ago, talking on the phone was centered to certain place, namely home, work, or phone booth. It is quite obvious that it reduced productivity and simply wasted the time by keeping people strapped to a place, chair, or a room.

Today cell phone made it possible to speak to anyone anywhere from any place. So why should we blame it for this wonderful possibility? Why being tied to a cell phone is worse than being tied to a certain place?

Well let's get back to the supposed addiction we all have and tell to critics: "Come on. Let's be serious. Aren't you going to return to 'stone era' to prove that you all are not addicted to cell phones?"

What we really do is to making the best use of our time and possibilities. You can benefit of them to get up-to-date information in this fast world where information determines your business success. Besides, in situations of emergency a cell phone for sure can be a great solution.

Human beings are actually prone to addition! But, it is not necessarily a negative one especially if you know what you want and who is in charge of your life. Does the fact that we use cars, listen to music, play games, or have hobbies mean that we are addicted? Well...the answer is NO, that's just what we need.

In any case we should rather think about benefits of a certain technology then to fight it just because we used to rebel against something.
