Wireless PDA/Cell Phones - The Technology of The Future

Current technologies used for creation of cell phones, PDAs, etc. have already reached their highest point. Some brand new technologies are to enter the market and they would for sure overcome today's technology.

The priority would be given to technical changes which will involve a different human-computer interface enabling to use the gadget twenty-four hours a day.

General ideas

Currently 'technology genius' works on the future integrated PDA/cellular phone system. Home Automation and Healthcare Consortium is one of the entities that will provide key technologies for the future PDA/cell phone system. Together with this technology some applications to complement the system will be developed.

Miniature headsets, earphones, microphones, and displays would be connected to the PDA/cell phone through wireless transmitters. This will create a Wireless LAN (local area network).

In addition to this a fingernail sensor is developed. It can be used as an input device to portable PCs. Various pointers such as mouse and keyboard will be replaced by micro nail sensors detecting the finger forces and hand posture. The sensor will be able to transmit the human intentions to the PDA/cell phone through the wireless LAN.

Devices to perform unbelievable functions

The PDA/cell phone promises to suit most sophisticated tastes. The device of the future will be able to provide a wide and rich variety of services. You are to be among the majority of people who would care!

Internet access services are to be dramatically extended by hooking up to various devices and systems.

There has already been developed a prototype of miniature PC equipped with built-in wireless transmitters for networking. The PCs are called i-Coins. They are mainly designed for short-range wireless communications and for low power consumption. The i-Coins are provided with their own battery cells that lasts as long as your computer does.

These i-Coin computers can be installed almost everywhere: buildings, automobiles, equipment, human bodies, clothing, furniture, are just a few to name. Since it works using a built-in wireless transmitter, it can be connected to the Internet and intranets through a PDA/cell phone or other boosters.

Another achievement is the ring sensor developed to monitor the physiological status of the wearer. Later the data is transmitted to the medical centers from any corner of the world.

Vestibular-ocular test rig, the glucose counter, and the insulin delivery system are just several devices that can be hooked up to a wireless PDA without wiring the human body.

The development of these technologies ranks up with invention of electricity and stream engine. The potential of wireless PDA/cell phone device and its additional accessories (i-Coins, ring sensors, etc) is enormous and goes much further to serve human health, perform complex jobs (by communicating with with each other, or even with robots to avoid human error).

There are developed numerous applications of hands-free, wireless PDAs that will allow the wearer to monitor, record and check the status of any process. The technology will make it possible to remotely control the process. This is what amazes us, but at the same time is scaring. This is because the human factor will be even more diminished.
